Million Dollar Quartet:Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet, has announced that Darlene Love joins cast for a special presentation in the final Thursday evening, Dec. 9 performance at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41 st Street).
Tony nominated Best Musical features Eddie Clendening (Elvis Presley), Lance Guest (Johnny Cash), Tony Award “® winner Levi Kreis (Jerry Lee Lewis), Robert Britton Lyons (Carl Perkins), Tony Award” ® nominee Hunter Foster ( Little Shop of Horrors, Urinetown) and Elizabeth Stanley (Cry-Baby).
Love has been hailed as one of the greatest singers in pop music. Her first record was number one, “He Rebel.” She has worked with legendary producer Phil Spector on such songs as “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “He is confident that the boy I’m going to marry” and “Christmas Baby Please Come Home.” Love was recently nominated for a third time to rock roll.
Love the song “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” every year since 1986 on the last episode before Christmas Late Night with David Letterman (NBC 1986 – 1992) and The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 1993-present). The song is always performed with Paul Shaffer and the House Band show. Letterman said that the annual figure is his favorite part of Christmas.
“Million Dollar Quartet” is the name given to recordings made on Tuesday December 4, 1956 at the Sun recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Entries were impromptu jam session between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. This was probably the first supergroup.
Author Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, musical dramatizes the million dollar quartet session. Premiere at the coast of Florida Music Theatre and was staged in a theater village in the Seattle area, breaking box office records. Music is open to a limited edition of Goodman Theatre of Chicago September 27, 2008. The show was transferred and is currently playing the Apollo Theater Chicago, where he opened October 31, 2008.
Broadway revival opened April 11, 2010, with a cast Thanks Eddie Clendening as Elvis Presley, Lance Guest as Johnny Cash, Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis, Rob Lyons as Carl Perkins and Hunter Foster as Sam Phillips.
